Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS) or Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS)

Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS) or Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS) needed to provide services in a Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program (SAIOP). The services to be provided include: structured individual and group addiction activities provided at an outpatient program designed to assist adult and adolescent consumers to begin recovery and learn skills for recovery maintenance. The services shall include: individual counseling and support; group counseling and support; family counseling, training or support; biochemical assays to identify recent drug use (e.g. urine drug screens); strategies for relapse prevention to include community and social support systems in treatment; life skills; crisis contingency planning; disease management; and treatment support activities that have been adapted or specifically designed for persons with physical disabilities, or persons with co-occurring disorders of mental illness and substance abuse/dependence or mental retardation/developmental disability and substance abuse/dependence.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for supervising CSAC level counselors in the SAIOP program. The candidate will also participate in the development of the outpatient program to include additional services in the future.

The following is required in order to meet the qualifications for a Certified Clinical Supervisor:

  1. “Certification as a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (applicant must maintain counselor certification in order to maintain supervisor credential).”
  2. 8,000 hours (four years) and a master's degree in a human services field with a clinical application from a regionally accredited college or university (10,000 hours in order to be reciprocal through the IC&RC/AODA, Inc.).
  3. 4,000 hours (two years) experience as a substance abuse clinical supervisor.
    The following is required in order to meet the qualifications for a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist:
    1. A minimum of a master's degree with a clinical application in a human services field;

Primary counselor needed for adolescent SAIOP:
VisionQuest, a National Youth Services organization is in the process of opening a new Group Home and an associated SAIOP for adolescent substance abusing boys in Durham. We are seeking a primary counselor for the SAIOP program.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide individual therapy, family therapy and group therapy involving adolescents and/or parents (or guardians)
  • Make initial assessments and develop Person Centered Plans according to the needs of the client and/or family
  • Must be capable of being responsible for creation, evolution and oversight of each clients PCP as well as leading CFT’s and completing all Medicaid pre-authorization paperwork

  • Must be familiar with the DSM IV terminology and capable of making clinical assessment

(Utilization Reviewer - Substance Abuse Specialty)

Reviews requests for authorization of State funded Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Abuse treatment to determine medical necessity and authorize needed services. Reviews and monitors services and reauthorizes as needed. Participates in post payment clinical reviews of both State funded and Medicaid funded services to assess appropriateness of treatment and recommend changes in treatment, higher level clinical review, and/or technical assistance for the service provider. Reviews a percentage of all state funded and Medicaid services plans to assess adherence to best practice principles, provides feedback to providers, and recommends technical assistance when needed.

Individuals must possess a master's degree in a human services field, be licensed in a mental health profession in NC, and have two years relevant substance abuse experience. Persons who also have NC Substance abuse Board license will be given preference.
